Service users celebrate the opening of new supported living service in Portsmouth

Service users from Portsmouth celebrated the grand opening of their new service last week, as they cut the ribbon to officially open Chetwynd Road, a new supported living service.

Chetwynd Road will provide specialist support to fourteen adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and complex needs including challenging behaviour.

Service users at Chetwynd Road will be supported through an active, person centred approach to make choices and take control over their lives including choosing their own support staff, embracing opportunities in education and employment and being a part of the local community.

The day was a great success and included tours of the service, the official cutting of the ribbon by one of the residents, a Christmas themed buffet and a champagne toast to celebrate the event. Guests from the local community were welcome to Chetwynd Road with the opportunity to chat to residents and their support staff.

Speaking on the day, Peter Kinsey, Managing Director of CMG said:

“It has been a fantastic opening and we are delighted to have so many local guests from Portsmouth here to see our new service and meet the residents and staff.

Chetwynd Road will provide 24 hour individualised support and enable service users to live independently and at the heart of their community. We look forward to building on our partnership with Portsmouth and providing the best quality of care for our tenants in the future.”
