Rosie Hewett, Support Worker at Bury Road
"Rosie Hewett is 21 years old and works at Bury Road, a residential service for 6 adults who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities, Autism and complex needs.
In October 2007, Rosie started as an E2E learner at Fareport Training Organisation (Gosport) where Rosie expressed an interest in working in care, as her mother was doing this kind of work and Rosie thought she might enjoy it as well.
Rosie was encouraged to apply to Bury Road in Gosport to gain a “taster” of what the support worker’s role could entail by doing work experience. Rosie fulfilled this role like “a duck to water” and subsequently applied to join the bank team.
In July 2008, Rosie started her Level 2 Health and Social Care apprenticeship, which she thoroughly enjoyed. It was not too long before Rosie was offered a permanent contract at Bury Road. Rosie expressed that she gained a lot of confidence and knowledge while working towards her apprenticeship, as she was gaining hands-on experience as well as some time learning in the training room and 1-1 with her assessor.
Rosie received excellent support from her Manager and colleagues [at CMG] while working towards her apprenticeship and she is now an extremely valued member of the staff team where she works. Rosie is well regarded and respected by her staff team at Bury Road, the Care training team at Fareport, and - it appears from observing Rosie at work - from the service users as well!
Rosie's enthusiasm for her job and her commitment to supporting the service users she cares for is outstanding.
Rosie is still working in the same residential setting and is currently making excellent progress towards her Level 3 (Advanced) Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care."
